Manage Knowledge Base

This guide explains how to add, organize, view, and select source files in Knowledge Base so they are ready for search and chat in IntelliMate.

1. Open Knowledge Base

Knowledge Base is the left panel in IntelliMate. If it is collapsed, expand it first so you can view and manage your source files.

This is where you add documents and other supported files that IntelliMate can use in chats.

2. Add source files

You can add one file or multiple files to Knowledge Base in two ways:

  • Click Add Source in Knowledge Base
  • Drag and drop files into the Knowledge Base area

After you add files, IntelliMate processes and prepares them for search and chat.

When processing finishes successfully, you will see a document-type icon to the left of the file name. For example, a PDF may show an icon like , which helps you identify the file type quickly.

If processing fails, IntelliMate shows an error-style icon like so you know that the file is not ready yet.

Supported file types include PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, MD, HTML, TXT, JSON, YAML, TOML, TF, ENV, XML, LOG, and source code files such as JS, TS, TSX, JSX, CSS, SCSS, PY, JAVA, GO, RS, and SH.

3. Rename a source file

To rename a file, move your mouse over the file icon on the left side of the file name. The icon changes to a menu icon like .

Click that menu icon to open the dropdown menu, then choose Rename.

Enter the new file name, then press Enter to save it, or click outside the edit field to save the change.

4. Delete a source file

To delete a file, open the same dropdown menu from the menu icon beside the file, then choose Delete.

IntelliMate will show a Confirm Delete dialog.

Choose Delete to confirm, or Cancel if you want to keep the file.

5. View a source file

You can click a document name in Knowledge Base to open and view the file inside IntelliMate.

When you are done viewing the file, click Close (X) to return to the main workspace.

6. Choose files for chats

Use the checkbox on the right side of each file to select one or more source files for the current chat.

IntelliMate uses the files you select as the source context for that conversation.

If you want to include everything currently in Knowledge Base, use the checkbox in Select all sources.
